04. Config
Now that you have everything downloaded, it's time to unpack your server.
You need WinRar to extract the files.
When you extract them (for example to C:\HLDS), go there and make a shortcut of hlds.exe file to your desktop.
Download server config we made from here, open it with Notepad, Wordpad or any text editor, and edit the setting as you wish. Don't forget to edit the rcon password, because it is used to administrate the server from a remote pc. (instruction in post 03, download the file).
Copy the config.cfg to the cstrike folder, and overwrite the old one.
(cstrike folder is inside the folder you extracted your server files, C:\HLDS\cstrike )
Now you're ready to start your Counter Strike 1.6 non Steam dedicated server using the shortcut on the desktop.
When it is online, in the tab Main you'll see the IP of the server.
(something like 91.12.102.55:27015)
Copy it and give it to your friends so they can join.
Now, you start your Counter Strike 1.6 game, and leave the server window open.
In console in the game (~ key) type connect and then your IP. Example:
connect 91.12.102.55:27015
And press enter. :D
If you set your RCON password, you can be the admin of the server without leaving the game.
(instructions in post 03)
